Karin, congratulations once again on winning the best music video. Before we talk about video, introduce yourself. How did you start your career?

Thank you so much! well i was kinda always around music whether through sports i used to do or whether it was music that my mom introduced me to including musicals. I always leaned more towards visual arts before tho because no one is really raised towards artistic career and when someone chooses and artistic career it's more accepted for it to be in visual arts. When i was 14 i started to major in graphic design but then i injured my hand and i couldn't do any work and the teachers and my classmates at that school started to be horrible to me because of that so i had to leave and that on top of loosing my creative outlet took a horrible toll on my mental health which wasn't good even before all that and i think i found my voice through music, it became my new outlet and a new way for me to express myself when i lost expression through visual art. When i was 15 i found a small english producer that was willing to record my songs so i recorded a couple and put 2 out becuase i wanted to have them out just for me but through one of them a very successful producer found me and wanted to meet up and we started working together, i was 16 at the time and it took us a year to even put anything out but yeah that's basically the start haha.

What is your all-time favorite music video and why?

I love a lot of music as well as a lot of videos but if i had to choose one i think it would be "hope for the underrated youth" by yungblud

The video and the song both hold very powerful messages that i think the young generation really relates to and whenever i watch the video it makes me cry.

What were some of the highlights of your career so far, and how do you deal with the stress that comes with this career?

Well i got nominated for a best new artist award in the czech republic which is pretty great, i was also nominated for a best music video by a czech radio and now i won for best music video here in munich haha. So i'd say they are the biggest ones but also just to be able to make music and music videos and put all of my ideas into something people can see and hear and being able to work with people i never thought i'd work with and to have people listen to what i feel and relate to it and it helping them are very insane moments.

There are stressful months but also in some ways my life changed the same ways everyones had cause of the pandemic so im not able to do a lot of the things that usually come with being an artist so i don't know how i'll handle those once i'm gonna be able to do those

Let's talk about Babyboy. Who came up with the idea and what do you like most about the clip?

Me and the director i did the video with came up with the idea together. I like the whole thing but i think the best thing is the message it brings to people as well as just the fact that i was able to work with amazing people and amazing cast.

Do you have a favorite genre to work in? Why is it your favorite?

I dont haha i dont like the idea of genres i just do what i'm feeling.

If you could work with anyone in the world, who would that person be?

Oof there's too many people to choose.

Do you have any advice for up-and-coming singer who wish to follow in your footsteps?

Just keep working, work hard but also don't forget to take breaks and look after yourself, be authentic and you'll find the right people.

What was the most important lesson you had to learn as singer?

That you as a singer and you as a person are two different things you as a singer are a product.

What are you currently working on?

I bunch of new songs, hopefully some videos, my first ep is gonna be coming out soon so i'm working on a second ep

Where can our readers follow your work?

My social media which is all at @itskarinann :)

Is there anything you'd like to add, or someone you wish to thank?

If anyone feels alone and like they don't belong anywhere then i hope they'll find a safe space and community withing my music and the people that support me, i wish to create a community of people where it doesn't matter what your race is or what your sexuality or gender or religion is we don't judge and we accept you for who you are and how you express yourself.

I'd like to thank just everyone who supported me throughout and continues to support me as well as my team for believing in a young girl from a small country :).
